About the technology
XFO 1.8 GHz SA 9” stretch tap plate upgrade
Status: 4.5 honors
Category: Broadband Cabling & Accessories
The SA 9” stretch tap plate upgrade allows existing multitaps that have been previously installed in the field to upgrade to 1.8 GHz. XFO’s breakthrough plate-only replacement eliminates the need to swap out the full tap housing in operation. This saves significant cost and time by avoiding the rip-out-and-replace approach to existing housing.
XFO’s advanced electro-mechanical design creates a good flat in/out response and return level loss level, and a connection between legacy in/out screw contacts that is simple and rapid. The plate is a distinctive blue color to provide easy identification of plates that have already been implemented in 1.8 GHz upgrades.
XFO SA 9” stretch tap provides superior RF performance to 1.8 GHz, with signal conditioning plug-in options. The range is fully compatible with originally manufactured SA 9” housings.
Wider than normal outdoor taps, the 9” stretch tap is frequently used throughout networks when a new tap is spliced in and the in/out connection cables are too short. This removes additional costs and the technical challenges associated with connector extensions for upgrading to 1.8 GHz with a faceplate-only swap.
Technetix patented XFO technologies address all of these issues.
Khanyile Dube, Product Manager Cable Broadband at Technetix commented that, “We are truly honored to receive this award for the XFO SA 9” stretch tap. It’s a proud moment for our team, whose dedication and innovation have made this breakthrough possible.” Responding to the company’s efforts to mature their reputation as the leading sustainable vendor, Khanyile went on to add, “This recognition reinforces our commitment to delivering smarter, more efficient solutions that keep networks running at their best.”
Features:
- One product compatible with all original legacy 9” SA housings: no need to splice new multitap housings to achieve 1.8 GHz
- Ensures power and radio frequency (RF) continuity for end users down the coaxial line; reduces downtime and customer churn during upgrades to 1.8 GHz
- 60% faster to install than a full station 1.8 GHz multitap
- Less technician expertise and experience required to execute upgrade
- Eliminates investments associated with new housings, hardline connectors and heat shrinking; up to 70% cost saving compared to full station replacements
- Premium RF performance on legacy housings, with no dip in performance when signal measures around 1.4 GHz
- Backward compatibility with SA 9” products sustains ‘business as usual’ service to subscribers during the upgrade process
- Spare replacement housings are available for situations where existing device is damaged
