Technetix Receive Triple Honors at SCTE 80th Gala Dinner and Awards

June 24, 2025, Albourne, UK – Technetix was thrilled to accept an impressive three wins at the SCTE 80th Gala Dinner and Awards, held at the magnificent Tower of London on June 21. The accolades include recognition for leadership in sustainability and exceptional contributions to the industry from two of Technetix’ key team members. 

Richard Harris Member of the Year: Besim Latifi 

Technetix’ Chief Sales Officer for Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets, Besim Latifi, was named 2025’s Richard Harris Member of the Year. Instrumental in strengthening partner collaborations and promoting knowledge-sharing, Besim is credited with significant advancements to broadband accessibility on a global scale.  

Driving both commercial success and social benefits such as greater digital inclusion, the award acknowledges Latifi’s strategic leadership and unwavering commitment to the SCTE community. Latifi expressed his gratitude, stating, “I’m honored to be named as the Richard Harris SCTE Member of the Year. The SCTE plays a crucial role in bringing our industry together, and I’m proud to contribute to its mission. This recognition is not just a personal milestone: it’s also a reflection of the exceptional people I’ve had the privilege of working with at Technetix and throughout the broadband community. It’s an exciting time for the industry, and I look forward to continuing to help shape its future.” 

Distinguished Engineer of the Year: Gareth Shelley 

The team are also delighted to confirm that Principal Engineer, Gareth Shelley, received SCTE’s Distinguished Engineer of the Year award. Describing Shelley as a visionary in broadband innovation, Gareth has led the design and development of a number of Technetix’ cutting-edge solutions. This includes the groundbreaking XFO multitap, the industry’s first 1.8 GHz faceplate-only multitap upgrade solution.  

Shelley’s contributions are responsible for reshaping network capabilities and providing cost-saving solutions for HFC network upgrades to 1.8 GHz ESD capability.  

Consistently pushing the boundaries of broadband infrastructure over his 22-year career at Technetix, Shelley’s work includes an expansive range of high-efficiency passive components, which have been deployed in networks worldwide.  

Reflecting on the recent recognition for his vital work, he says, “It’s such a privilege to receive this award. I’ve always been passionate about pushing the boundaries of broadband technology to create smarter, more efficient solutions. It’s great that our innovations make a difference in networks across the globe. We all share the drive to shape the future of connectivity, and I’m grateful to the SCTE for recognizing this. I look forward to continuing this journey of innovation.”

SCTE Sustainability Award 

In addition to the impressive double win in SCTE’s individual categories, Technetix were delighted to accept the Sustainability award for their innovative ASPx (Access Smart Powering) platform. This solid-state platform has been developed as an energy-saving alternative to traditional ferro-resonance-based power supplies, reducing HFC outside plant power consumption by up to 30%.  

Commenting on how ASPx exemplifies the company’s commitment to sustainability through innovation, Technetix Group Operational Excellence and Sustainability Director, Anna Burns, says, “This award reflects our belief that sustainability can be achieved through innovation. With Access Smart Powering, we’re proving that rethinking even one part of the network can deliver significant energy savings, driving measurable progress toward emissions targets with a single product change.”
