How is Technetix positioned to respond to industry trends?
In this Q&A series, we put key questions to the members of Technetix’ strategic advisory board (SAB) and main board members who generously share their experience, views and wealth of knowledge in their answers.
With their distinguished careers ranging from global sales and marketing, illustrious halls of fame, investment in mobile banking technology, to holding over 100 patents, our board members give their answers to our next question:
How do our SAB members think Technetix is positioned to respond to industry trends and developing tech? Are they opportunities to evolve, or challenges to mete out?
Colin Büchner, MD Chief Network Officer for Liberty Global
SAB member since 2019
“Technetix is well-positioned to address the evolving needs of HFC networks. They provide technology to upgrade these existing networks to higher speeds, and to run them efficiently for the foreseeable future.
“Long-term these networks will be replaced by fiber networks, and investments in HFC will continue to decrease. Technetix needs to become the partner of choice for the rollout of fiber and the migration of customers to these fiber networks.”
Israel Madiedo, Innovation and Technology Director at izzi
SAB member since 2024
“Everyone has to go through the evolution phase and I believe Technetix is in a very good position. On the fiber side of the industry, it has both the talent and the energy to harness changes and make something really, really positive.
“While it’s my belief that Technetix are the very best within the cable industry, I have been emphasizing the fact within the Board that fiber and other developments are incredibly important. Technetix is really taking this into account, evolving their offering in the likes of fiber, software, and AI, and hiring experienced people to develop these areas.
“Technetix has a great name within the operators. They’re a reliable provider and a healthy company in terms of the financials – a key element nowadays, in an industry experiencing turmoil.”
Tony Werner, former CTO Comcast
Board member since 2024
“Continuous investment in R&D directed at network providers’ needs and pain points, in combination with the ability to response quickly to those needs and listen closely to customers, is what sets Technetix apart.”
Duncan McIntyre, Technetix Chairman
Board member since 2009
“I believe Technetix is extremely well-placed: we have our best ever product roadmap and the innovation is outstanding. The technology is of course important, but that’s only one element of success: we have to continue building and developing a superb management team and execute well. There is a market opportunity, and I believe we have the combination of team, technology, drive and culture.”
John Chapman, former CTO Broadband and Fellow, Cisco
SAB member since 2023
“Technetix should become the best broadband supplier out there. Not just for cable, but for PON, FWA, and wireless. Revenue shifts between specific broadband technologies, but broadband as a whole is constantly evolving and everyone needs it. Today, we have gigabit broadband – something that was once thought impossible. I predict that we will have terabit broadband by 2040, and that’s an opportunity for Technetix as plants continue to be rebuilt.”
Lorenz Glatz, former CTO Kabel Deutschland
SAB member since 2019
“With operators in Europe overbuilding themselves with fiber, the two distinct DOCSIS 4.0 architectures in North America – extended spectrum (ESD) and full duplex (FDX) – and cable operators considering adding 5G integrations to their arsenal, Technetix is at an impactful junction. They are extremely well-positioned to benefit from this round of network upgrades, and from my perspective, are driving industry-wide innovation in HFC while also making inroads in to fiber as well as wireless.
“At the core, however, is the rapid series of innovations Technetix brings to market. As long as we can protect and evolve this, they can respond to – and more importantly, drive – anything.”
Check back in a few weeks’ time when we ask our SAB where they see Technetix in five years’ time.
